New heritage & wildlife signs on Clarecastle Quay!

Clarecastle & Ballyea Heritage & Wildlife Group  are delighted that after many months of planning, their wildlife and historical signs have just been erected  on the quay in Clarecastle .

One sign shows the wonderful story of the quay area, with  historic photographs and script.

The other sign depicts the wildlife that can be seen on the River Fergus and mudflats, with many photographs in colour of the flora and fauna of the area.

This project involved  collaboration with Clare Co Council. The group are grateful to Tidy Towns  for selection  of signage location.  Come along and have a look!

The Heritage Group are continuing to collect stories about the Great War and parishioners involved.

A number of people have come forward in recent days with medals and  photographs  and fascinating stories of their grandfathers’ role in that war. Contact Eric at 087-9791955 if you have medals etc. and he will arrange to have them photographed.
